If you’re
visiting New York City this summer make sure you take a stroll
through Central
Park and take in all
there is to see and do in NYC’s giant backyard. Plan to spend a
whole day, as it will probably take about this long to see and do
everything there is in the park’s
843 acres.
Here are just
some of the many things you can do when visiting Central Park in the
summertime.
-
Visit one of
the park’s 21 playgrounds, like the East 96th
Street Playground, one of Central Park’s largest playgrounds. The
playground includes two play structures with wooden bridges for
running across, climbing poles, a tree house, sandbox and more!
-
Enjoy the
hand-crafted rides of the Victorian Gardens Amusement Park. The
amusement park also has games, live interactive shows, concession
booths, face painters, balloon sculptors and much, much more.
-
At the Loeb
Boathouse you can rent various sporting equipment like bicycles. For
ten cents you can take a ride in an authentic Venetian gondola, a
rowboat, or multi-seat water buses.
-
On a
Saturday or Sunday, stop by the Swedish Cottage to see one of
the last public marionette companies in the United States.
-
Enjoy a 20
minute Central
Park Horse Drawn Carriage Ride.
-
Take a
stroll across or under a few of the 36 bridges and arches inside
Central Park.
-
Admire the
48 fountains, monuments, and sculptures including Alice in
Wonderland, Hans Christian Anderson and The Obelisk.
If you prefer a
more mapped visit of Central Park, take a guided Central
Park Tour of the sights.
No matter your age or interests, there’s something for everyone to
do while visiting Central Park.
