Swine flu: A real pandemia or exaggerated news?

Tuesday, 28 April 2009 08:37 by joel

I read a post on LinkedIn today about the Swine flu pandemic. I thought relevant parts of it were worthy of posting here. The author is a travel/tourism industry professional:

"I cannot believe this "state fo fear" Don't we remember SARS and what it did to the economy worlwide and tourism in particular? I know that news like these sell papers globally, but sorry to say that I believe this is a news-fuelled scare story and the governments appear to be only so happy to add fear (so people don't talk about more pressing matters)

I do not take this lightly, BUT, 20 cases in the USA, all mild, in a Country of 300 million and we all are in fear."

What's your take on this? I'm interested in your comments.
